Why Natural Disasters? A Christian Perspective
"If God is all-powerful and all-loving, how can he allow natural disasters (tsunami's, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.) to happen – and cause such destruction of life and property?"
This question was acutely raised by the devastating tsunami that hit southeast Asia on December 26, 2004. As a result, David Pawson was invited to give three 1-hour broadcasts on Revelation TV on January 12, 20 & 31, 2005 to deal with this very issue.
David first deals with three unsatisfactory answers – (1) that all suffering is a mystery, (2) that so much unselfish goodwill is generated by suffering and (3) that God himself suffers with us.
A sentimental view of God's nature and human nature only compounds the problem. Only the Bible's understanding of how good God is and how bad we are can provide a solution that satisfies our reason and conscience. Such an event can then be seen as a global warning of worse to come and a sign of a better beyond.
As a result of certain points David Pawson made in these talks, numerous emails, letters and phone calls and queries have been received, which David couldn't deal with in detail due to limited time. But soon after these talks, he gave a follow-up message, treating those issues in more detail...
That message is now available from Truth To Tell Media as a series of 3 CDs, called 'What About John 3:16?'
- Total of 2 DVDs.
- Running Time: 3 hours – 3 sessions of 1-hour each.
